The Serious Stuff
Sarah is a passionate advocate for disability rights. Sarah completed a diploma in social services work where she worked in a long term care home with the life enrichment team, working with the elderly population and those living with Alzhiemer’s, dementia, brain injuries and global developmental delays. During this time, she also worked at the Salvation Army providing resources to low income communities. Following her college diploma, Sarah worked in a specialized shelter for pregnant and parenting youth for two years, working closely with mothers in the prenatal and postpartum period adjusting and navigating resources.
Today, Sarah is currently completing her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Waterloo in Social Development Studies with a specialization in Education and minor in Psychology. Along with her studies, Sarah serves as a Board Member for The Angelman Syndrome Foundation Canada supporting families like her own in navigating a new diagnosis, funding, and organizing fundraising walks and conferences, bringing overall awareness to those living with Angelman Syndrome.
Sarah hopes to one day become an Occupational Therapist and specialize in feeding therapy and work with those living with global developmental delays, brain injuries, and various other cognitive needs. Sarah has a long standing passion for equality and the development of policy rights, and will carry this through her career.
